WEEK 1 | Introduction to Implant Dentistry - Lectures

DAY 1

  • Surgical training methodology

  • Biological principles of implant healing

  • Break down the basics of implant prosthetics

DAY 2

  • Cone beam scanning in implant dentistry

  • Site assessment tools and considerations

  • Haemorrhage in oral surgery

WEEK 2 | Introduction to Material Science - Lectures

DAY 1

  • Material Science of implants

  • Implant connections and engineering

  • Patient medical history

DAY 2

  • Morning of Live Surgery Viewing

  • Biologic complications

  • Sugical anatomy associated with implant dentistry

WEEK 3 | Hands-on Training (with life-like molds)

DAY 1

  • Suturing and flap design

  • Implant placement protocol and bone grafting

  • Impression taking

DAY 2

  • Implant placement and bone grafting (continued)

  • Loading protocols

  • Temporary crown installation

WEEK 4 | Treatment Planning - Lectures & Hands-on Training

DAY 1

  • Treatment planning

  • Post operative assessment of implant healing

  • Torque testing

DAY 2

  • Additional implant placement and bone grafting  (using life-like molds)

  • Additional suturing techniques

WEEK 5 | Round 1: Implant Placement in Live Patients

Attendees will place their first round of implants in live patients (under local anaesthetics)

WEEK 6 | Round 2: Implant Placement in Live Patients & Impression Takings (of Round 1 Patients)

Attendees will place their second round of implants in live patients and take impressions of round 1 patients

WEEK 7 | Impression Taking & Crown Installation

Attendees will restoratively install the crowns for round 1 patients, then take impressions of round 2 patients (round 2 patient crown installation will occur in the New Year, with assistance from your AIM lecturer)
