The concept proposes a paradigm shift away from extract and augment toward partly retaining the tooth root to preserve the ridge and prevent bucco-palatal collapse. Despite the excellent responses reported in the literature, there are reports regarding high complication rates. Sound knowledge on how to carry out the partial extraction therapies is paramount in achieving the success rates and outcomes reported in the literature.
