The literature and data from the Australian Dental Implant Registry shows that approximately 70-90% of dental implant procedures require some form of bone grafting. The use of PRF related products has been shown to improve bone graft material handling, decrease costs and improve both hard and soft tissue wound healing. Khoury Bone Shield: There are numerous bone grafting procedures that can be carried out in dental implantology, many of which are highly predictable and successful. One of these procedures, known as the Khoury Bone Graft (Bone Shield) offers patients an autologous option which produces one of the most stable and highest bone graft qualities. However, the protocol is technique sensitive and requires several important steps to ensure predictability and quality of the grafts. Learning Objectives: DAY 1: PRF GRAFTING: • Understand the Biology of PRF and its Production • Understand Venipuncture, Safety Ideal Protocol for Blood Harvesting and Complications • Venipuncture Certification • Clinical Handling and Use of PRF with Conventional Hard and Soft Grafting DAY 2: KHOURY BLOCK GRAFTS: • Predictably Harvest Bone Shields Safely • Correct Preparation of the Bone Shield • Correct Securement of the Bone Shield • Filling Residual Deficiency and Flap Management This course will have numerous hands-on practical components (including venipuncture and socket grafting using sticky bone) that will be performed both days on life-like models by all participants.
